Epilogue of an XXL trial at the Alençon criminal court. Sixteen people have been on trial, since Monday June 24, in a vast drug trafficking case, which occurred from October 2022 to July 2023, in a building in the Perseigne district, in Alençon (Orne). The judges’ decision fell on Thursday, June 27, at the end of the day.

Traffic over several months

At the end of almost three hours of requisitions, prosecutor Laëtitia Mirande had requested heavy sentences the day before. The court was ultimately more lenient. Fourteen warned were condemned et two have been relaxed.

The deal point in question was located in an HLM, at 31 rue Anatole-France, near the Sainte-Thérèse church. It was open every day from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., with an organization similar to that of a business (distribution of roles, inventory book, “advertising panels”…). There we found heroin, cannabis, cocaine and even crack.

The dismantling of the network started with a police operation, carried out on October 4, 2022, with initial arrests and seizures of drugs, weapons and counterfeit notes. Behind, the investigation stretched over several months and identified different links in the chain.

Three years, one year of which is suspended for the manager

The one who was considered the managernow aged 20, received three years in prison including one year suspendedwith continued detention. He has already served a year and is expected to receive accommodation for the remainder of his sentence. The other defendant so far in pre-trial detention, described as a “henchman”, is free: he received 18 months suspended prison sentence.

The to cooka 43-year-old man, manufactured crack and also made some deliveries. According to him, he acted under threat from the head of the network, whom he was the only one to charge. The court sentenced him 18 months in prison, 10 of which are suspended. Its firm part has already been done.

Four mothers were identified as nannies. They lent their apartment or cellar to hide drugs and money. Two of them received a “solemn warning”, according to judge Éric Martin, in this case a fine of €2,000 suspended. The two others, who also carried out “missions” such as transporting money, drugs or accomplices, were sentenced to 12 months suspended.

For the other defendants, most of the sellers, the court pronounced a sanction varying between suspended sentence and a sentence of home detention under electronic surveillance (DDSE). One was also relaxed.

Several bans on appearing in Perseigne or Orne

Finally, three brothers were also involved in this case. In October 2023, a large quantity of 14 kg of drugs, with a street value of €135,000, an automatic pistol and ammunition were found at their home in Valframbert.

The person who hid this merchandise, who a priori fueled the traffic in Perseigne, was sentenced to 18 months in prisonwith warrant of committal. The other two had: 12 months under DDSE for the first and released, for lack of proof, for the second.

The court has issued numerous bans, over several years, on appearing in the Perseigne district and even in the Orne department for some.
