Richomme “is going to spend some time there”
While the fleet completed nine days of racing this Tuesday midday, no skipper has yet reached the Doldrums. Yoann Richomme (Paprec Arkéa), 9th, explained this low racing pace: “We got through the first week, this story isn't very quick. We are only in Cape Verde, not ahead of normal time. We're going to be the slowest of the last four Vendée Globes and it's likely to continue a bit, it's not going to be violent after the Pot. So, it's hard to plan ahead, with such slowness we can't predict the weather very far. We're going to spend some time there in this Vendée, 80 days of food won't be too much. I'm at the head of a small group, not as well placed as I'd like, but if it doesn't slip too far ahead, it will still be tenable. You have to try not to give up, make the right changes at the right time, make the right decisions. »
