More and more beneficiaries, more and more limited resources… Les Restos du coeur are launching their 40th campaign

As poverty gains ground in , the association tries as best it can to welcome more and more beneficiaries, with limited cash flow.

Les Restos du Cœur are launching their 40th campaign. Last year, more than 1.3 million people were welcomed. This even though the financial situation of the association was difficult: 35 million euros of debt.
After having regained better financial health thanks to donations, the association plans this year to “prioritize the most vulnerable groups, in particular single-parent families and children under three years old”, indicated in October its president, Patrice Douret.

110,000 people refused in 2023-2024

Rising energy prices, logistics and food costs… Faced with an “unsustainable situation on a human level for the most deprived”, the association called for “a mobilization of political and economic forces”, stressing that it was “not strong enough to absorb the flow of people” coming their way.

This year, for the first time in its history, the association founded in September 1985 by Coluche, which ensures 35% of food distributions in Francehad to modify the income level which qualifies for food aid, thus refusing 110,000 people.

In 2023, the association distributed 163 million mealsthe second largest figure achieved after the 171 million from the previous campaign.
