PALM OIL – Parisian environmentalists denounce the collaboration between Paris City Hall and Ferrero for “Paris celebrates the Games” on the sidelines of the 2024 Olympic Games. They point out the company’s controversial practices in terms of deforestation

This Tuesday, Parisian environmentalists strongly criticized the partnership between the City of Paris and Ferrero, which finances the “Paris celebrates the Games” festivities, a set of festive events on the sidelines of the Olympic Games. They accuse Ferrero, the world’s largest buyer of palm oil, of being involved in deforestation in Indonesia and Malaysia.

Fatoumata Koné, a representative of environmentalists, said Ferrero is “killing children,” citing investigations into child labor on plantations. Environmentalists have highlighted the inconsistency of accepting financial support from Ferrero when the 2024 Olympic Games want to be ethical and ecological.

Despite the criticism, the Paris Council approved the partnership agreements, with the deputy for sports and the Olympics Pierre Rabadan justifying this decision by the need to maintain the balance of all the partnerships.

Ferrero responds
