the essential
On November 22 and 23, 2024, the Aveyron Lozère Food Bank is organizing its traditional collection in 70 stores.

“This year, the national collection takes place in a tense and difficult context for many families. The economic difficulties our country is going through, the political uncertainties facing us, galloping inflation, the uncertainty of the future, mean that many households, which until now were able to meet their daily needs, are seeing their family life become more and more complicated, even uncertain.we explain to the Food Bank. “Certainly, it’s not about taking a catastrophic look, but a lucid look and seeing the reality of new families experiencing food insecurity.”

In this context, the 2024 national food bank collection constitutes a major challenge against this food insecurity. “ It is essential since it allows us to cover 10% of our supply needs in three days, or 24 million meals in 2023.”

6,500 people supported

Today, at the Aveyron Lozère Food Bank, more than 6,500 people are supported through its 30 local partner associations. Which represents an increase of 30% since 2021. In 2023, it had collected the equivalent of 120,000 meals during the national collection.

“The mobilization of everyone in all territories is essential”launches the Food Bank which also hopes to recruit volunteers.

Note that the Aveyron branch of the “BA” wishes to collect as a priority ready meals, canned fruit, vegetables or fish, soups, starchy foods and dried vegetables, oil, sugar and milk and , for babies, no small pots but hygiene products, notably diapers outside size 1.
