A three-liter cube of rum

The facts date back to Friday September 27. Around 4:30 p.m., the defendant was flashed at 140 km/h on the expressway between La and Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu. He is driving the car of a friend with whom he spent the previous night sharing a three-liter cube of rum and seals. The two men have in common that they are under a license suspension for drunk driving. For fear of future sanctions, the defendant decides to escape the control of the gendarmerie bikers. A chase then begins for around fifteen minutes with peaks of 200 km/h. After an initial deviation, the defendant goes back in the wrong direction and hits a taxi carrying a young man returning from a day of rehabilitation.

“He doesn’t realize the consequences”

He doesn't realize the much more disastrous consequences that could have had. slips the victim, who escaped – like the defendant and the taxi driver – serious injuries. Why did you get behind the wheel? questions the president.

I didn't think I had such a high rate, I wanted to do my boyfriend a favor by picking him up after work.” replies the defendant. Perfectly integrated, his career was marked by the divorce of his parents, from which his consumption of alcohol and cannabis only increased.

The court sentenced him, in accordance with the prosecution's requisitions, to eight months of probation with the obligation to compensate the victims. For the next two years, the young man will have to undergo treatment and will be prohibited from retaking his license.
