An 18-year-old young man was killed by a shot “in the face” in Le Havre (Seine-Maritime), Saturday June 22, 2024. A murder investigation was opened by the Rouen judicial police. Here’s what we know at this point.
Three days after the tragedy, the public prosecutor of Le Havre (Seine-Maritime) published a press release on the circumstances of the murder of the 18-year-old young man by a shot “in the face” which occurred on the evening of Saturday June 22, 2024 .
“Saturday June 22, 2024, around 8 p.m., the Le Havre police station was notified of an attempted homicide avenue du Montgaillard”, explains Bruno Dieudonné in his press release. From the first elements collected on site, it appears that the victim, aged 18, was attacked and severely beaten by a group of around ten individuals for unknown reasons, at this stage of the investigations.
“One of his attackers then allegedly displayed a handgun and fired one or more times in the direction of the victim who collapsed to the ground, seriously injured in the head. The group then dispersed quickly,” continues the prosecutor.
In cardiorespiratory arrest when help arrived, the young man was revived and taken to Rouen University Hospital where he was pronounced dead on Sunday, early in the afternoon.
The murder investigation launched by the Le Havre police station was entrusted to the Interdepartmental Judicial Police Service and did not give rise, as it stands, to any arrests.
The autopsy is scheduled for June 25.
The victim, who celebrated her 18th birthday in January 2024, was known to the courts for “violations of the narcotics legislation and was sentenced by the Le Havre Criminal Court on April 29, 2024 in immediate appearance to a sentence of “18 months’ imprisonment with a suspended probationary period.”
