CODAF strengthens its anti-fraud controls in Mayotte

Illegal work, tax, social and customs fraud… all areas of action of the Departmental Anti-Fraud Operational Committee (CODAF) which brings together, under the co-chairmanship of the department prefect and public prosecutors, State services, police, gendarmerie, prefectural, tax, customs and labor administrations, and local social protection organizations, Travail, CSSM, etc.

His actions recently made it possible to dismantle an attempted driving license fraud which brought its instigators to court, and sentenced to a flexible prison sentence. They also affect illegal sale or fishing, with confiscation of intercepted products.

Inspections are regularly carried out on companies, with sanctions for those who employ undeclared labor. This was the case for one of them in Koungou last week, specializing in building cleaning and industrial cleaning activities. State services discovered the employment of illegal foreigners as well as unsubmitted payroll documents.

A plenary meeting of CODAF

If until now, only those caught practicing illegal activities were mentioned, from now on the names of the offending companies will also be made public. Thus, the prefecture indicates that the company indexed in Koungou is “Orchid'pro Nettoyage”.

A temporary closure order for this company has been issued for a period of 3 months. “If the facts are repeated, the sanction will be increased. The names of offenders concerned by administrative procedures for illegal and clandestine work will now be made public.

According to the communications department of the prefecture that we contacted, it is also an educational approach: “It is a question of explaining both the objective of these controls, and of making companies responsible. And this, whatever the field, illegal work, fraud, health risks, etc. »

CODAF controls are therefore gaining momentum, and are now banking on the value of setting a bad example.
