Châteauroux: what will the future station footbridge look like?

It is a work which will undoubtedly bring back many memories to Castelroussins: after the removal of the historic station footbridge in 2010, for safety reasons, a new work must be built. A covered walkway, but not closed. She will leave, like the old one, on the north side at the old postal sorting center to arrive, on the south side, at the level of the whole of La Mellottée (ex Seron furniture). Elevators are provided on both sides to allow people with reduced mobility to use the footbridge.

Three projects were presented. Delivery and commissioning is planned for early August 2026. The project costs 5.08 million euros excluding taxes.

The idea is to create a new link between the northern part and the southern part of Châteauroux, separated by the railway tracks. Currently, there are only two major crossing points: the Cantrelle bridge on avenue Charles de Gaulle (between Équinoxe and the Carrefour store) and avenue de la Châtre (between place Voltaire and the Colbert center).
