New day of action for farmers in Haute-Garonne this Monday, November 18, 2024. At the call of the FDSEA 31 and the Young Farmers of the department, the farming world will mobilize once again to make their demands heard.
Gatherings in the cantons
This time, no blockade of Toulouse, but gatherings in each of the cantons. Gatherings which must begin at 7 p.m. and during which “fires of anger” will be lit almost everywhere in the department.
“These fires of anger will be done with respect for property and people,” explains Laure Serres, the president of the FDSEA 31 in Toulouse News. For the moment, we are not planning a blockade, but civil society must understand the importance of buying French products so that we continue to live and they can eat correctly. »
EU-Mercosur Treaty
With these fires of anger which, given the time of the demonstration, should be visible from afar, the farmers will put up banners and signs to highlight their demands.
“The concern of the moment is the draft agreement between the EU and Mercorsur (which promises to open the European market a little more to Latin American products, Editor's note), explains Laure Serres. But we also fight for the right to make a decent living from our profession. And that we stop importing products into France that do not have the same level of requirements as those imposed on us. »
Before a rise in mobilization?
Asked by Actu Toulouse last week, Mathieu Maronese, deputy secretary general of Young farmers 31 promised a rise in the mobilization of the peasant world in the department: “It will start slowly with the tearing down of signs on a local scale for example, but not on a large scale for the moment. Not before the end of the month at least when we will have real blockages in the big cities. This is the beginning of the beginning. »
In the meantime, these fires of farmers' anger should be held throughout France this Monday, November 18. Thus, in Tarn-et-Garonne, fires of anger will be lit at the Albasud roundabout, in Montauban, from 6:30 p.m.
