Very heavy sentences were requested on Monday against the main defendants at the trial of the double assassination in Bastia-Poretta in 2017.

Criminal imprisonment against “project manager”25 years against «matonne» guilty of having described one of the targets in a text message to the killer: very heavy sentences were requested on Monday against the main accused at the trial of the double assassination in Bastia-Poretta. On December 5, 2017, around 11:20 a.m., Jean-Luc Codaccioni and Antoine Quilichini, two members of Corsican banditry, were the targets of shooting in the parking lot of Bastia airport. Antoine Quilichini was killed instantly. Jean-Luc Codaccioni, an inmate of Borgo prison returning from leave in Paris, died seven days later.

Seven years later, none of the 15 accused in this river trial that began in early May escaped the severity of the requisitions of the attorneys general Christophe Raffin and Yvon Calvet who asked the jurors to “answer yes” to «68 questions» which will be asked to them to judge facts ranging from assassinations by an organized gang to criminal conspiracy. The most severe sentence, life imprisonment with a security measure of two thirds, or 22 years, was requested before the Bouches-du-Rhône Assize Court against Christophe Guazzelli, presented as the “project manager” of this double murder, “the driving force” who trained his brother to avenge the assassination of their father Francis in 2009.

According to the prosecution, his objective, with his brother Richard and with Jacques Mariani, was to avenge the deaths of their fathers, founders of the “Sea breeze”and of “to bring back to life” this historic criminal gang. Against Richard Guazzelli, presented as “the chauffeur” on the day of the events, the required sentence is 30 years of criminal imprisonment with a two-thirds security measure. The prosecution requested 10 years in prison against Jacques Mariani, behind bars at the time of the facts. Against Ange-Marie Michelosi, whose father, a member of the South Corsica banditry, was also murdered, the prosecution requested 28 years of criminal imprisonment. It is he who is accused of having “Steps” Cathy Châtelain, divorcee Sénéchal, a guard at the Corsican prison of Borgo.

“Kill your marital boredom”

The only accused to have admitted the facts, with her ex-husband, this forty-year-old had been seen, arriving running, by surveillance cameras at Bastia airport, to kiss Codaccioni. Before investigators, she admitted to having participated in this double assassination to highlight «piquant» to his life. She wanted “kill your marital boredom”summarized the attorney general. “This is the first time that, in a Corsican score-settling case, women have been tried by an assize court”underlined Yvon Calvet, also mentioning the wives of the Guazzelli brothers.

Against Christophe Andreani, “an essential friend of the Guazzelli brothers”28 years of criminal imprisonment were requested, and “between 25 and 28 years old” were requested against Abdel-Hafid Bekouche, presented as a member of the “four” with the other three. Finally, against Jaouad Sebbouba, a plane pilot who hid the car used to commit the assassinations and a weapon, a sentence “not less than 25 years of criminal imprisonment” was required. Against the other accused, including the companions of the Guazzelli brothers and the ex-husband of the «matonne»sentences of 15 years to 5 years of imprisonment including 4 years suspended were required.

Like this trial described as“atypical” by the attorneys general, because punctuated by refusal to appear and recusal of the lawyers, one of the accused, Ange-Marie Michelosi, who had refused to come to the box for several weeks, like the other main accused, suddenly appeared on Monday at 4 p.m., in the middle of the indictment, with a neck brace. The inmate, victim of a road accident Monday morning in the prison convoy which was taking him to his trial, accused the president of the court of being “a crook”, which led to his immediate expulsion. Defense arguments are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, with the verdict expected Friday.
