The question of salaries occupies an important place in the campaign for the early legislative elections. The candidates in the running reveal the measures they plan for civil servants.

During this campaign for the legislative elections, promises to increase salaries were made by two of the three most important coalitions in the race for Matignon, namely the Renaissance presidential coalition, the New Popular Front (NFP) and the National Rally (RN). .

Even if it is not clearly committed to an overall increase, the Renaissance coalition intends to grant targeted increases. In its campaign program, this bloc including among others the MoDem and Horizons ensures that“after having increased the salaries of employees since 2017, school teachers (+621 euros net per month at the start of their career), nurses (+637 euros), peacekeepers (+382 euros) and agents who serve our compatriots, we will continue to revalorize those who sustain our public services.”

Despite this situation, the reform of remuneration and careers still remains among the projects of the Renaissance presidential coalition. Merit at work appears in its program unveiled on June 20, while the reform is still on the menu of the Minister of Transformation and the Civil Service, Stanislas Guerini, who intended to implement it next fall.

The New Popular Front promises a significant increase in wages

It is the new left-wing coalition which has clearly expressed itself on the increase in the salaries of civil servants in the event of accession to Matignon. In its program unveiled on June 14, the New Popular Front, made up of LFI, PS, Ecologists, PCF, among others, promises to increase the value of the index point by 10%. The latter, let us remember, represents the basis for calculating the gross salary of civil service agents.

Other professions in the civil service will also be affected by the promise of the new left-wing coalition which intends to launch, during its first 100 days in Matignon, two “major laws” on education and health. Two laws which will lead to further salary increases in favor of teachers and professionals in the health sector, like doctors, nurses, nursing assistants and even administrative staff. On the National Rally (RN) side, no promise in the direction of an increase in salaries for the function has been announced.
