At the initiative of the mayor of Nouainville (Manche), Jean-Marc Baudrythe promotion 1979 met on Saturday November 16, 2024 in the Ernest-Renan room from Tourlaville.

The first mixed promotion

On September 17, 1979, a new life began for sixty apprentices who passed the entrance exam to the arsenal.

The 1979-1981 class was made up of student workers divided into three specialties: electricity, mechanics and boilermaking. For the first time, this promotion accepted diversity. It was a big challenge at the time for ladies to find a place in this very masculine world.

Everyone remembers their two years of training with compulsory holiday camps supervised by teachers at Fort de la Hougue and in . These camps aimed to strengthen team spirit. They still had this cohesion this Saturday for its happy reunion for 25 of them.

The gathering was completed by former teachers who were delighted to see their former students.

“The Karachi attack deeply hurt our class with the loss of a comrade. Ultimately, I think we all had the immense satisfaction of working for a cutting-edge company, building complex buildings such as submarines. It has now been 45 years since we passed through the doors of the arsenal and it is with real pleasure that we come together to celebrate this moment as it should be. »
