Large paintings decorate two districts of the town.

The residents, in conjunction with a professional painter, propose subjects to decorate the four faces of the transformer during a preparation meeting. Sketches are presented to elected officials for their opinion and one or more days are scheduled for the creation of the work.

Birds in the streets: Alouettes, Tourterelles and Mermoz

Claire Laurent, an artist specializing in large-scale frescoes, was at work at the corner of Mermoz, Alouettes and Tourterelles streets. She was accompanied by many local residents of all ages, admiring the quality and rendering of her frescoes. It must be said that she is not unknown in Saint-Denis, since she created the fresco of the electrical transformer in the musicians’ district, in July 2023.

This time, she drew and painted birds in a very realistic way on two sides of the transformer. The other two faces represent Aéropostale, played by aviator Jean Mermoz.

The fresco located in the heart of the housing estate was created by Alain Locatelli, from the Haut les Murs company, based in Lyon, with the help of a few residents. It reproduces the environment of the neighborhood, with cows, a heron near a stream, the bowling alley, a child playing and many other decorative elements.
