“We hope that the uprooting of vines will allow those who remain to live properly,” sighs Nathalie Roussille, president of the Vignerons de Buzet. Among the 900 to 1,000 hectares promised for grubbing up in the department, 300 have been confirmed for the Buzet winegrowers, “these are the ones we supported”. According to figures from FranceAgriMer, released this Friday, November 15, this uprooting mainly concerns Buzet. “There are winegrowers who went there without support,” supposes Nathalie Roussille. “But that’s about what we estimated.”
According to his analysis, “this mainly concerns vines promised to be uprooted, whatever happens, or farms whose winegrowers are close to retirement or without a buyer. The uprooting is total or partial”.
Upcoming arbitrations?
In total, for all of the 6,017 hectares of vines in the department, 130 applications were submitted for just over 900 hectares. On the Marmandais side, there are 15 for around fifty hectares. In the Lot-et-Garonnaise part of Brulhois, 5 hectares are promised for grubbing, around twenty, in total, in the appellation which covers three departments (Lot-et-Garonne, Tarn-et-Garonne and the Gers).
Here too, “these are individual requests from winegrowers,” explains Delphine Leuillet, director of the cellar. For the moment, all requests at the national level fall within the dedicated envelope, estimated at 120 million euros, which corresponds to 4,000 euros per hectare. All winegrowers could therefore be satisfied.
For the moment, these are only requests, the files must be submitted before November 13, at noon. The State's arbitrations will be known in mid-December. An important period for the Vignerons de Buzet, since their next deadline before the commercial court is scheduled for December 10. The Vignerons du Brulhois, also in safeguard procedure (which is different from liquidation), have a court date on January 21.
