It is an unmissable event for many breeders. This weekend of November 16-17, Boussac is hosting the Charolais interdepartmental competition. 160 cows and bullswill compete to try to win a prize for the best breeder. The registered breeders come from six departments: Creuse of course, but also Allier, Cher, Indre, Nièvre and Puy-de-Dôme.
A real economic issue
This unmissable event in Boussac is celebrating its 78th edition this year. The competition is both a showcase for breeders: they present their most beautiful animals and the products of their farm. This is an opportunity to make sales at good pricesespecially for prize-winning animals.
A reward in Boussac always bodes well, explains Dominique Loulergue, president of the Charolais union in Creuse: ” Animals that have won at Boussac are often awarded prizes in the competitions that follow, whether at the breed final in Moulins, or at the agricultural show in Paris..” The animals rewarded this weekend will also qualify for the breed final in two weeks.
A program for the whole family
On site, visitors will also be able to see Charolais sheep, draft horses, and a poultry exhibition. On Saturday evening, the Young Farmers' Union will offer burgers. On Sunday, a meal with Charolais meat will be organized.
The Charolais interdepartmental competition takes place under the Boussac agricultural hall. Doors open Saturday, November 16 at noon. Sunday, November 17, the festivities will continue from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
