However, it seems that this was decided without prior consultation with the association operating the building. This is what Hervé Guihard, mayor, and Dominique Bonnot, president of this association, explain in a joint press release published this Saturday.

“The La Passerelle teams and the municipality could have reflected, with this collective, on the place that a theater can have in the current period, in order to imagine spaces or times for exchange and circulation of thought”, say the co-signatories.

Provision of another building

Who regret that by “choosing a non-concerted occupation as a modality of action, the collective places the La Passerelle association in the position of having to react to a situation suffered, the consequences of which are multiple: management of access to the building night and day, arrangements for organizing the team’s work and the end-of-year shows planned in the coming days, financial impact…”

And to call, while recalling to support “unwaveringly, citizen commitment against the extreme right”, that the occupation does not continue. “The municipality offered the collective the provision of another visible building in the heart of the city to meet, exchange, debate and organize mobilization against far-right ideas,” the press release also indicates.
