Decines-Charpieu’s turn?

The Metropolis of has alienated a new right-wing town hall.

After Ecully, Bruno Bernard chose Décines-Charpieu to host a future accommodation center for unaccompanied minors.

The building permit was filed on a tenement on rue Francisco-Ferrer which belongs to the community chaired by environmentalists. A building, located behind the Charlie Chaplin high school and against the eponymous gymnasium, which must be renovated to offer around fifty rooms to unaccompanied minors in charge of the Metropolis.

Furious, the LR mayor of Décines, Laurence Fautra, announced in a press release that she had written to the prefect of Rhône to inform her of “his fears regarding the location of this type of structure in a sector of the municipality already saturated in terms of population flow”.

Laurence Fautra evokes a center for unaccompanied minors who would be stuck “between two districts in City Policy: Prainet and Berthaudière/Sabons”.

And as in Ecully with the councilor Sébastien Michel, the mayor of Decin is worried about the profile of the future residents of the center: “The Lyon Metropolis (…) clearly does not take into account the dangers for high school students and residents of the neighborhood that an additional intake of young and wandering population represents in a sector which, due to its geolocation, already experiences numerous drug trafficking narcotics and acts of delinquency”. While recalling that unaccompanied minors “are ideal prey for traffickers of all kinds”.

Laurence Fautra concludes by asking the Lyon Metropolis to withdraw this project which was not the subject of a vote in the metropolitan council, nor of consultation or impact studies.
