“We had two resignations at the start of our mandate,” explains the mayor, Françoise Douste. As in all Councils, sometimes people do not find their place; and for one of them, it was health problems. There was no problem there. But in August, we had a series of resignations from five councilors, one after the other, without explanation. I received a very impersonal letter saying that they were resigning, without any further explanation, either written or oral. »
“Broken trust”
The Landes prefecture reminds that “those interested have no obligation to provide reasons for their decision”. However, one of the resigning elected officials indicates that, on the contrary, his letter to the mayor was explicit: “Most of the commissions no longer meet,” he laments. Trust was completely broken mid-term. The elected officials that we could be were just there to vote and say amen to everything. »
With only eight out of 15 elected representatives remaining – more than a third of the members fewer – the law requires voting.
Eight candidates are vying for seven positions. Seven are on the same list: Vincent Bawedin, Alice Blouin, Jean-Eudes Darblade, Hélène Donadieu, Thierry Ducournau, Christine Duhaa and Tatiana Magnien. The eighth candidate presents himself alone, it is Thierry Dourthe.
Mixing possible
As the municipality has less than 1,000 inhabitants, mixing will be possible. It consists of crossing out certain names from a list to replace them with others. Voters can vote for any of the candidates, whether they run individually, as a partial slate or as a full list.
“Mayor and deputies have not resigned, which is why the Municipal Council continues to function normally,” continues Françoise Douste. Since the resignations, we have had to meet two or three times as a Municipal Council. Simply, the quorum, instead of being eight, is four. But we took deliberations, the municipality is functioning completely normally. We continue to move forward on our projects. »
