Several hundred people demonstrated on Saturday in the Federal Square for the rights of Eritreans critical of the regime. By marching through the city, they wanted to draw attention to their concerns.

The demonstrators demanded that opponents of the Eritrean regime who live in Switzerland be better protected against it. Furthermore, Switzerland must not authorize expulsions, whether to Eritrea, Rwanda or other countries. The demonstrators also denounced racism and hate speech in Swiss politics.

The police were present all around the Federal Square with a large presence, noted a Keystone-ATS journalist on site. In recent months, several clashes between Eritrean supporters and opponents of the regime have taken place in Switzerland.
