After crossing Vichy, in the Allier department, the day before, The Olympic flame arrives in the Loire this Saturday, June 22.

Nicolas Virapin, disabled athleteis the captain of the collective relay who carries the legendary torch in the department for this journey across France where 10,000 people take turns to lead the Olympic flame to the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics on July 26, 2024.

Charlieu

Lyon’s Delphine Pardon, in charge of organizing the Olympics, and former basketball player Henri Grange were the last two relay bearers in Charlieu

Henri Grange is a former basketball player, originally from Drôme. He won the title of French Champion seven times and participated twice in the Olympic Games in 1956 and 1960. It was he who covered the last meters in Charlieu.

Montbrison

After Charlieu, the flame arrived in Montbrison at 12 p.m.

And the flame arrived around thirty minutes later at the Allard garden, in the company of the mayor of Montbrison Christophe Bazile and a few elected officials.

Feurs

At 1 p.m., it’s Feurs’ turn to welcome the flame. And the first carrier is the Ligerian Anne-Frédéric Royon, Paralympic equestrian athlete.

Saint-Chamond

3 p.m. The fifteen porters are ready to take turns throughout the route in Saint-Chamond, starting from the Arena.

Many big names in sports and artists are present in this torch relay in Saint-Chamond, alongside anonymous people. We can cite in particular the singers Santa et Bianca Costathe former Miss Loire 2023 Chloe Victoirethe discus thrower Mélina Robert-Michon or the swimmer Amaury Leveaux.
