Arrested in Yvelines

This second suspect was arrested at his home at the beginning of the week by investigators from the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI). He was linked to the first on Telegram discussion groups. “There was talk of carrying out attacks against Jews during the Olympic Games,” specifies a source close to the matter. The police seized his computer equipment.

During the hearings, the suspect confessed, explaining that these were fantasies and delusions during which he dreamed of being a fighter for Islam in the name of Palestine in the context of the conflict with Israel. Of Chechen origin, he wanted to attack the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium in Saint-Étienne (Loire) during the Olympic Games.
