An ocean frozen in a glass case… No need to look further: no crystal trap equals in beauty the one set by Marco Mencacci. Year after year, the Italian artist, celebrated by the most prestigious luxury houses – from Cartier to Hermès via Bernardaud – asserts himself as the worthy heir of the great glass masters of Murano. Already acclaimed for his sense of staging and his extraordinary paintings during the Planète(s) Decouflé exhibition at the National Costume Center, Marco Mencacci today offers us this creation of diaphanous beauty.
Here, the designer captures a crystal clear sea in an ethereal burst of light, like a pulsating tear trapped in a heart of delicately blown glass. Like a drop of water suspended in time, an emerald-colored blade seems to flow silently, sliding along the translucent wall, pure and dazzling. Born from the chaos of molten magma, this unique piece plays on the effects of opacity and translucency, revealing a luminous paradox: the implacable solidity of glass contrasts with the fluidity of color, betraying this fragile moment when everything becomes possible.
