Bentley is among the manufacturers that have expressed a desire to electrify their model range in the coming years. The operation will begin with the new Bentley Continental GT of 4e generation, the grand touring coupe from the famous British brand which is still the 2e best-selling model after, as you can imagine, the Bentayga, the manufacturer’s SUV.

The car will be officially revealed in the coming days, but the manufacturer has already leaked some interesting details. Since the survival of the W12 engine and the old V8 is in question, we learn that the new Bentley Continental GT will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid engine with a fairly interesting range.

First, you should know that Bentley is part of the Volkswagen family. The new Continental GT is still based on the group’s MSB platform shared with the Porsche Panamera, in particular, but Bentley has revised several components, including the suspension, as well as the active dynamic systems in order to offer behavior well suited to its new electrified engine. . In terms of style, this is mostly an evolution; the few images published suggest a redesigned front end, but the car retains its classic and racy lines.

Under the hood, the manufacturer has confirmed the presence of a 4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine from Audi which, paired with an electric motor, should generate 780 horsepower and produce 738 pound-feet of torque. Bentley clearly wants to maintain its status as a high-performance car despite its forced move towards a greener orientation.

No technical details on the battery capacity, but the manufacturer mentions that the car will be able to drive in electric mode for a distance of around 80 kilometers.

The car will also have 4-wheel steering and all-wheel drive with torque vectoring. The brand mentions that it will be the most dynamic model “in Bentley’s 105-year history”.
