Paris 2024 Olympic Games – Repechage tournament: last chance this weekend in Monaco

This repechage tournament will take place the weekend of June 21 to 23 in Monaco. It will decide the last teams participating in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in the rugby 7s discipline. The competition will bring together 12 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams. Only the winners will get their ticket to Paris.

This weekend is an important moment for the rugby sevens selections. At least, those who have not yet qualified for the Paris Olympic Games. This is the case for major nations like Great Britain or South Africa among men. But the task will be delicate, given that only the winners of the two tournaments will win their ticket.

Note that Papua New Guinea has withdrawn from both competitions, as confirmed by World Rugby this Friday. The Pacific selection did not “unable to obtain the necessary travel documents to meet the arrival deadline before the tournament”.

The participating teams:

  • Men’s tournament: Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Mexico, South Africa, Spain, Tonga, Uganda.
  • Women’s tournament: Argentina, China, Czechia, Hong Kong China, Kenya, Jamaica, Mexico, Paraguay, Poland, Samoa, Uganda.
