Following the order of June 12, 2024 on the adaptation of the provisions of the law for full employment in overseas communities, a seminar on the transformation of Public Local Employment Services (SPEL) into Local Committees for Employment was organized on November 5, 2024 by the Territorial Collectivity of Guyana (CTG) in the presence of Karine Cresson-Ibris, vice-president of the Collectivity, delegate for employment, integration and professional training.

Four areas of work have been decided:

  • Strengthen territorial collaboration: By creating a denser territorial network, local committees will facilitate cooperation between the different employment stakeholders.
  • Share good practices: Participants were able to discuss effective practices already in place in SPELs and identify suitable solutions for future local committees.
  • Prepare for organizational changes: An evaluation of the current SPELs made it possible to target the necessary adjustments to ensure a smooth and optimized transition to the local committees.
  • Integrate digital tools: Technological tools will play a central role in simplifying support and supporting job seekers in their efforts.

This seminar resulted in the development of a collective roadmap which will guide the establishment of these local committees from 2025.
