The Landes prefecture indicates that a second outbreak of avian flu has been detected in the Landes, in Saint-Etienne-d'Orthe, reports France Bleu Gascogne. Last week, a first outbreak had already been identified in this same town.

The prefecture indicates in a press release that a “euthanasia operation of the 6 000 animals present on the farm is implemented from November 14. An epidemiological investigation is currently being carried out by the services of the Departmental Directorate of Employment, Labor, Solidarity and Population Protection (DDETSPP), to determine in particular whether epidemiological links exist between the two outbreaks. According to information from France Bleu Gascogne, the breeding concerned is located less than two kilometers from the first.

The protection zone within the three kilometer radius of the first outbreak remains the same. It concerns eight municipalities: Orist, Pey, Port-de-Lanne, Saint-Étienne-d'Orthe, Saint-Jean-de-Marsacq, Saint-Lon-les-Mines, Sainte-Marie-de-Gosse, Saint-Martin -of-Hinx.
