A 44-year-old man was tried immediately on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at the Nantes judicial court, following acts of exhibitionism, threats with weapons and contempt, perpetrated on the night of Friday, November 8. This homeless individual, living in a camper van, was already known to the police for similar offenses.
Events that occurred during the night from Friday to Saturday
The events began shortly after midnight on Friday, November 8. As reported by Actu.fr, the driver, in a drunken state, was driving his campervan in rue du Couéré in Châteaubriant (Loire-Atlantique) when he collided with the vehicle of a municipal police officer.
After the accident, the man attempted to flee, pursued by the officer who had finished his shift but remained nearby. Shortly after, the RV driver stopped, got out of his vehicle and exposed himself naked while threatening the officer with a knife.
Rapid intervention by the gendarmerie
Alerted by the municipal agent, the Châteaubriant gendarmes quickly intervened. The individual, who was no longer armed when the soldiers arrived, uttered insults against them and put up resistance before being arrested and then placed in police custody.
A repeat offender
This man was not his first incident with the police. A few weeks earlier, he had already committed outrages against gendarmes in the city center of Châteaubriant. This recurring behavior undoubtedly weighed heavily in the court's decision.
A firm condemnation
The Nantes court sentenced this individual to 12 months in prison, including six months in prison. In addition, he is prohibited from staying in Châteaubriant for a period of two years, in order to protect municipal agents and residents from this dangerous behavior.
