It was a very dear wish for him, to be a standard bearer. He is 8 years old and he is the youngest standard bearer of the UFTAC. He has been working on almost all the ceremonies for 2 years now, notably in Tonneins (Lot-et-Garonne). They therefore no longer have any secrets for the young man.
I wanted to pay tribute to my great-uncle Maxime, Tonneinquais, who died in the Algerian war
This little one sensitive to Duty of memorywe met him during the ceremony of November 11, 2024. In Tonneins, it always attracts a lot of people.
Especially since this date was also chosen to honor all soldiers who died for France. Everyone comes here to pay tribute to those who fought for France.
Many young people
At 15, Noah wants to participate, “it’s important for those who fought for freedom”.
The two music schools were installed on either side of the place of memory. Several rows of officials. And facing them: the standard bearers. Despite his second place in the speech competition, the teenager was “very impressed the first time, on May 8”.
But the standard bearers were just as numerous.
8 years, 9 years, 10 years…
Among them, several young people. Even very young. Meeting with those who, from a very young age, have chosen to perpetuate the duty of memory.
Alongside Nadau, Danaé, 9 years old. It was a first for the young girl who decided to become a standard bearer “for the people who died for France. I find it very respectful to be in the ceremonies.”
For her premiere, she was well surrounded: Serge and Nicolas. The latter initially wanted to help out on May 8. He has stayed ever since.
Flag bearer and young firefighterLouca 16 years old is at each ceremony. On one side or the other.
For the memory of veterans. I have family who fought…
The young man also wants to embark on a military career. Not far from Nadaü, your mother Salome. Also a standard bearer, she is above all a bugle player.
At 4 years old, I played in a military band near Toulouse.
She continues to pay tribute to those who died for France, “my grandfather was a legionnaire so I am sensitive to these tributes”.
Just follow the other standard bearers
Khloé, 10, is no longer at her first ceremony. “I love France” explains the little girl. So, when Guy Dumas, president of UFTAC, asked her to become standard bearer, she didn't hesitate for a second. And it is under the proud gaze of her mother that she now works at each ceremony.
Descendant of Poilu and fighter of war 39-45Thierry took a while to decide. “I could no longer see the War Memorials… I saw my father again with his flag.” Since this year, he has been wearing the colors.
A fine squad of standard bearers which delights President Guy Dumas. “During the last congress, we had 44 flags, many of which were less than 25 years old,” he smiles.
