In order to improve the comfort of children, the Department invested 48,000 euros in the redevelopment of the school playground.

« It is an innovative approach to the development of recreation spaces that is more balanced, less mineral and more vegetated and favors new uses while preserving the comfort and safety of children. Sustainable because this project participates in the integration of nature-based solutions within public facilities such as the school where we are gathered but above all because it benefits above all the development and education of young people generations, therefore the citizens of tomorrow »underlines Véronique Pelissier, Vice-President of the Department for Children and Families.

The municipality of Méry-sur-Oise called on the Council of Architecture, Urban Planning and Environment of Val d'Oise chaired by Véronique Pélissier to support it in the transformation of the ongoing Oasis recreation spaces (opening, adaptation, awareness, innovation and social connection). This transformation aims to create a stimulating and harmonious environment, promoting sharing and learning in the open air.

The project is based on a new courtyard concept, including:

  • New recreational uses: facilities for experimentation and discovery activities, as well as a varied fun offering (materials to discover, cabins, etc.).
  • A courtyard adapted to all paces: integration of spaces for calm and educational activities.
  • A green and shaded courtyard: reduction of heat islands, promotion of biodiversity, use of water as a resource, and management of infiltration during major floods.
  • A space designed collectively: involvement of all court stakeholders in its overall design.

The Department has invested more than €48,000 as part of its Val d'Oise Territoires Fund.
