FIFA has chosen to publish a ranking which only takes into account, for most of the ranked countries, recent preparation matches for continental competitions. Thus, Belgium has not yet paid the price for its defeat against Slovakia in the first match of the Euro. On the contrary, it benefits from a slight progression after its successes against Montenegro (2-0) and Luxembourg (3-0).

In the top 10, Argentina still dominates ahead of France. Behind the Red Devils, 3rd, Brazil has stolen 4th place from England. Behind the latter follow Portugal, the Netherlands and Spain, all of which keep their position. Croatia moved to 9th, while Italy fell one place to 10th.

Slovakia is the only team in the top 50 to have moved more than two places, from 48th to 45th place. The Belgians’ other opponents in Group E, Romania and Ukraine, are respectively 47th (-1) and 24th (-2). The Romanians will be on the Devils’ menu on Saturday at 9:00 p.m., before a decisive confrontation against Ukraine on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
