ASSE on a FC Metz player!

The transfer market has been open in France for 10 days now. The situation is currently quite calm on the Forez side, as in many other Ligue 1 clubs. The TV rights series is still in progress and the Greens have also not yet gone before the DNCG (meeting scheduled for the end of June). However, this does not prevent several tracks from leaking. A new name has just been revealed, at the left back position.

Matthieu Udol in the viewfinder of ASSE

The thinking heads of the Greens are looking to strengthen the workforce in all positions this summer. An understudy to Gautier Larsonneur, capable of really replacing him, is even sought. But one of the sectors to be strengthened as a priority is that of corridors. ASSE does not in fact have many credible solutions for the left-back and right-back positions.

Thus, major research is launched to bring competition to Maçon, Pétrot, Bentayg and Appiah (who are not certain of staying). L’Equipe tells us this Thursday that AS Saint-Etienne is interested in Matthieu Udol. The Metz left-back, who had played in the play-offs and participated in the descent of FC Metz, pleases Olivier Dall’Oglio.

The player trained with the Grenats has played 148 matches in the Metz jersey, including 30 in Ligue 1 this season. Captain for two years, he is a sure bet in the championship in his position.

However, the Team specifies that his profile does not really correspond to the recruitment policy planned by ASSE during this summer transfer window. Indeed, the objective is to mainly recruit players aged 25 or less (Matthieu Udol is 28). The club’s desire is to rejuvenate its squad a little, to launch young players to promote them. The squad is seriously lacking in active players and Ivan Gazidis and his troops intend to remedy this.
