Their ban on driving in the 27 municipalities of the metropolis, in the event of pollution, which was to apply in one year, on July 1, 2025, is postponed by 3 years to July 1, 2028. Crit’air 2 private vehicles are not affected. For these latter vehicles, there was no time limit. The only limit for passenger cars is July 1, 2025, for Crit’air 3

The decision has been made, but the order from the president of the metropolis will be taken in a few days. For Cécile Cenatiempodelegated metropolitan councilor, the automobile market does not allow craftsmen and transporters to find solutions before this deadline.

The motivation for this decision is the absence of suitable solutions and the timetables observed in the 300 European cities with low-emission zones.

Grenoble Alpes Métropoleafter consulting the 27 municipalities in the ZFE VUL PL perimeter, announced in responsibility, out of pragmatism, to begin the process of modifying the calendar and postponing the ban on VUL PL Crit’Air 2 vehicles from July 2025 to July 2028 (with exemption EURO 6D until 2030 maximum for all LCVs in line with the announcement made in 2022).

In order to contribute to the necessary improvement in air quality while fighting against climate change, Grenoble Alpes Métropole set up a Low Emission Zone (ZFE) in 2019 for light commercial vehicles and heavy goods vehicles on the perimeter of 27 municipalities.
