Trial of the parliamentary assistants of the National Front: “the implausible and variable geometry statements of Louis Aliot”, the prosecutor gives a foretaste of her requisitions against the mayor of Perpignan

Twenty-five executives of the National Front (today RN) and the party itself have been on trial since September 30 before the judicial court in the trial of the alleged fictitious employment of parliamentary assistants of far-right MEPs. This Wednesday, November 13, 2024, prosecutors Nicolas Barret and Louise Neyton make their submissions against the defendants, including the mayor of Louis Aliot. The sentences will be claimed at the end of the day.

“It’s nonsense”launched prosecutor Louise Neyton this Wednesday afternoon regarding the functions of parliamentary assistant that Laurent Salles would have occupied in the service of Louis Aliot between 2014 and 2015, while the mayor of Perpignan was a European deputy. Laurent Salles who in reality would have occupied the functions of assistant to Yann Le Pen-Maréchal, in the national direction of the major demonstrations of the party

“There is no proof produced of the slightest effective work for Louis Aliot”, she insisted during the requisitions. No communication, no email, no date noted in the assistant's diary, except for a single SMS for the king cake of a party federation. And the prosecution castigates the “uncredible and variable geometry declarations” by Louis Aliot, and “to reconstruct a posteriori” of his colleague's tasks.

A foretaste of the sentence, expected to be severe, which will be required against Louis Aliot at the end of the afternoon.

Remember that National Front executives face up to 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of 150,000 euros for acts committed between 2009 and 2013, or even 1 million euros for those committed after 2013. They also risk an additional penalty ineligibility limited to 5 years but which could be extended to 10 years, some exercising a public elective mandate at the time of the facts. These latter sentences could take effect as soon as the trial is deliberated if the court orders a provisional execution.
