the FNSEA-JA alliance promises mobilization “until mid-December”

This mobilization, which will begin on Monday in front of the prefectures and on roundabouts, must be “responsible”, without violence, and stop in mid-December so as “not to take the Christmas period hostage, a period of consumption of our products,” declared FNSEA President Arnaud Rousseau during a press conference. The mobilization could restart if necessary “in January,” he said.

“Europe must not be a sieve”

“Our goal is not to bore the French […]nor block them, even less starve them as we have heard from a certain number of other agricultural unions”, he underlined, in reference to calls from certain officials of the Rural Coordination (2nd agricultural union in ) who have proposed in recent days to “encircle” or “starve” certain metropolises such as or .

While the majority unions blocked traffic on major roads last year, they are not currently considering targeting motorways.

Less than a year after a movement of historic proportions, they believe that despite emergency aid and government announcements, things are not there: the reforms are, according to them, too slow and still invisible in farmyards.

“For us, the objective is to put pressure on the public authorities to ensure that our demands around the dignity of our profession, around the question of income, around the question of the simplification of our lives on a daily basis and ultimately around the promotion of food sovereignty be heard,” explained Arnaud Rousseau.
