Barely ten days after the Neuchâtel Grand Council decided to tighten the conditions for access to home schooling, three Vaudois associations defending these rights decided to take the lead to avoid experiencing the same scenario. It must be said that the threat lurks in the sky with the revision of the law on private education (LEPr) which could turn this little microcosm upside down. The debates in the cantonal parliament, which should take place in the first half of 2024, promise to be lively.

One of the most controversial reforms of the LEPr concerns the move to an authorization regime for taking your child out of public school. “Currently, Vaud offers a much appreciated facility so that parents can choose other educational solutions for their children,” comments Marie-Pierre Van Mullem, president of the parents’ association of the canton of Vaud (APE Vaud). . Why should we change it when, in the vast majority of cases, everything goes well?
