Present at a press conference before the Nations League match against Israel this Thursday, November 14, Didier Deschamps announced that N'Golo Kanté will wear the captain's armband at the Stade de France. In the absence of Kylian Mbappé, usual captain but excluded from the list for this gathering, it is therefore the midfielder of Al-Ittihad who recovers the armband.
This will be Kanté's second match as captain of the Blues after the one against Belgium last September. “ “He has an experience and he’s N’Golo… I’m not teaching you anything by telling you that he’s not going to speak much. But there are other forms of leadership. Because of what he does on the ground, he is a leader”explained Deschamps at a press conference.

During the last rally, it was Aurélien Tchouaméni who inherited the armband. But the Madrid midfielder injured his ankle the day before the list, forcing him to forfeit these two matches.
