Patrice Latron, new prefect of La Réunion, will officially take office on Monday, November 18. Leaving his functions as prefect of Indre-et-Loire, the senior official succeeds Jérôme Filippini, appointed prefect of Corsica.
Appointed by presidential decree of October 31, Patrice Latron will begin his stay in Reunion with a wreath-laying at the Saint-Denis war memorial at 10 a.m.
A meeting with the press will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the prefecture hotel.
Aged 63, prefect Patrice Latron has already held several positions linked to overseas: prefect of Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélémy in 2000, chief of staff in the political, administrative and financial affairs department of the overseas in 2003, secretary general of the prefecture of Martinique in 2005, prefect of Saint-Pierre-Miquelon in 2011, or even crisis director in Guyana in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic.
