Purpose of the call for applications

The City of Caen offers artistes to make a project for the Puchot tower of the castle.

  • The work will be thought of with regard to a architectural and cultural density
  • It will take into account the relationship that plays out inside the tower (hollow body located in the closed enclosure of the castle) and/or the one that plays out at its peak (building inserted in a complex fabric, emergence open to the city and its surroundings)
  • She will be able to offer multiple points of viewfrom three possible levels

Studies

  • A l’issue of this call for applications5 candidates will be admitted to develop studies of an artistic project.
  • A joint visit to the 5 candidates will be organized on Monday September 2, 2024, at 2 p.m.
  • At the end of this visit, the candidates will submit the studies of their artistic projectin the form of 5 sketches or scenarios (maximum)
  • They must send these studies by post no later than October 31has “Museum of Fine Arts, Public artistic commission Puchot tower, Le Château, 14000 Caen”
  • For this phaseeach admitted candidate will receive the sum of 5.000 TTC

Composition of the artistic committee

The artistic committee is chaired by theDeputy Mayor of Caen in charge of culture and heritage. It is also composed of 14 members, including in particular elected officialsof the agents publics (territorial authorities and state functions), artists and experts in contemporary art.

Budget

For the creation of the workthe artist or collective of artists will benefit from a fixed envelope of 180,000 euros fees Understood.
