Quebec, June 19, 2024. — In the first quarter of 2024, there are approximately 143,400 vacant positions in Quebec. Compared to the same quarter of 2023, this number is down by almost 53,100 (– 27.0%). This decline results in a reduction in the vacancy rate (the number of vacant positions expressed as a percentage of labor demand), which falls from 4.9% to 3.6% for this period.

The number of job vacancies is approximately 41,300 in the health care and social assistance industry, 12,600 in retail trade, 10,900 in accommodation and food services and 13,300 in the manufacturing industry.

At 1er quarter of 2024, the average hourly remuneration of all vacant positions is set at $26.25 and that of all salaried employment at $33.45.
