Legislative elections 2024case

Running in the name of the New Popular Front, the three-time NPA presidential candidate praises a “peaceful parachute drop” to “prevent the RN from seizing power and ensuring the fall of Macron”.

His train arrived late. Philippe Poutou crosses the Canal du Midi on foot to join his supporters from Carcassonne station (Aude), mockingly. Smiling under his cap, the surprise candidate of the New Popular Front in the 1st constituency of Aude improvises a speech in front of the small crowd who have been waiting for him for more than an hour under the plane trees of Square André-Chénier. The former worker at the Ford factory in Blanquefort, in the suburbs of Bordeaux, presents himself as a serial loser: “I was a candidate for the Elysée three times, I lost each time…” “We will win”, responds to him from a hundred Audoise voices carried by the Autan wind. The NPA leader sets a more realistic goal. “We’re going to take a point away from the local fascist!”

Coming from Toulouse where she is an activist in the CGT, her substitute takes care to maintain hope. “We will be in the second round”, assures Pauline Salingue. The specialist educator from the Pink City University Hospital explains having found a rental to stay on site for the duration of the campaign. Local activists distribute leaflets and instructions for this commando mission lasting less than two weeks, designed as a real military operation. “Yes, it’s a parachute drop, but more peaceful than those of the 3rd RPima”
