The deputies unsurprisingly rejected, Tuesday, November 12 in committee, the “expenditure” part of the 2025 draft budget, very largely reworked, notably by the left. The latter tried to have the text adopted, but came up against the government coalition and the RN. This vote will have few consequences if the text is examined in the hemicycle, because the deputies will start from the initial version of the bill.

However, this step will depend on the vote Tuesday afternoon on the “revenue” part. In the event of rejection, the entire government finance bill will be considered rejected at first reading in the Assembly, which will then pass control to the Senate this week.

During the debates in committee on expenditure, deputies voted to cancel the elimination of 4,000 teaching positions planned in the 2025 budget. They also chose to increase the envelope “ecological planning” of the budget of the Ministry of Agriculture, to increase the budget of that of Justice, or even to nationalize the IT group Atos.

“The State is able today to spend more money, to increase credits, to pay its civil servants better, to recruit more massively, to invest where there is a need to invest”defended LFI deputy Aurélien Le Coq. “With an increase in spending of almost 57 billion additional euros, this budget moves very dangerously away from the budgetary recovery effort which is nonetheless essential,” on the contrary denounced Félicie Gérard (Horizons).
