the essential
Only 20,000 spectators are expected in the stands to watch the Nations League match between the Blues and Israel, this Thursday, November 14. A survey launched by the Irrésistibles Français explains the lack of enthusiasm aroused by the meeting.
A special atmosphere emanates from this fifth day of the League of Nations, pitting the France team against Israel. This feeling will be accentuated this Thursday, November 14, at kick-off, when only 20,000 people will take their seats in the aisles of the Stade de France.

To understand this lack of enthusiasm, the Irrésistibles Français (IF), the main group of supporters of the Blues, carried out a survey among 445 of their members, who will not attend the game. Survey relayed by RMC Sport, which further explains that it will be “the lowest number of spectators at the Stade de France for a Blues match, since France-Australia, in the Confederations Cup, in 2003 (36,000). “
“High risk match”
Firstly, the argument of “the identity of the adversary” was expressed by 45% of respondents. In this part two elements stand out. Security reasons first (30%), while the Paris police prefect, Laurent Nunez, classified this match as “high risk” with an “extremely reinforced” security system. Then comes the boycott of the meeting due to the geopolitical context, put forward by 15% of voters.

Practicality also comes into play. 34% of the FIs participating in the survey say they are not available, often due to a lack of leave, after having taken a lot of it during Euro 2024. 9% of respondents finally mention a relative lack of interest in the poster and competition. Among the minority reasons, we find the probable lack of atmosphere (2%) or logistical problems (3%).
