This Tuesday, November 12, 2024, in the morning, a semi-trailer transporting several tanks of corrosive chemicals was injured in the area of the Auchan store in La Chapelle-Saint-Aubin, north of Le Mans (Sarthe).
According to initial information, the truck hit a low wall at the department store service station roundabout. The driver apparently continued his route for a few hundred meters. He then stopped in rue de la Rivière.
The “chemical risk” team mobilized
Called to the scene around 9 a.m., thirteen engines and around thirty firefighters were deployed. The “chemical risk” team was dispatched. Emergency services established a security perimeter around the truck and installed an “absorbent device” on the roadway. Access to the roundabout and the shopping center parking lot have been closed off.
Customers leaving the store are escorted by law enforcement to their car. The security perimeter should be maintained while the chemicals are absorbed and the road is cleaned.
