As part of the national day of commemoration of the 106th anniversary of the armistice of November 11, 1918 and tribute to all those who “died for France”, two remembrance ceremonies were held in Aurillac:
Hervé Demai, secretary general, sub-prefect of the Aurillac district, was present at the military square of the Croumaly cemetery alongside the civil and military authorities for the laying of wreaths in memory of the 150 soldiers who died for France whose names are inscribed on the columbarium with those of prisoners of war and resistance fighters.
Philippe Loos, prefect of Cantal, chaired the commemorative ceremony which was held at the war memorial in the presence of civil and military authorities, representatives of patriotic associations and flag bearers, a picket of honor from the 92nd Regiment of Infantry of Clermont-Ferrand, numerous elected officials and heads of state services. This ceremony was also marked by the presence of many young people, as well as the Aurillac harmony.
The prefect read the ministerial message: “(…) gathered at the foot of the war memorial, elected officials, veterans of all generations of fire, school children, we are not only the guard of the dead, we are first the sentinels of the living.”
