The Heritage Foundation announced that it had selected 100 religious buildings which will be the subject of an endowment. Among these buildings, nicknamed the “little Notre-Dame”, is a representative from Aveyron.
Several million euros were mobilized by the Heritage Foundation as part of a national collection: the Top 100 religious buildings supported have been announced. There is one in Aveyron!
Church of Saint-Martin de Luc
The 13 departments of the Occitanie region each have a beneficiary. In Aveyron, the Saint-Martin church in Luc-la-Primaube was selected by the Heritage Foundation. The structure lives a highlight in 1203when the priory of Capelle Saint-Martin was united with Bonnecombe Abbey. Rebuilt in the 15th century, the church saw the upper part of its bell tower being built again in 1890. The building is enlarged in 1925.
Humidity, cracks…
On its website, the Heritage Foundation explains that the project consists of restoring the church to avoid interior damage. “The coating, based on cement on the extension of the nave, logically installed humidity problems on the facades of the church”, is written on the sheet, which also notes “many cracks” present on the vault of the nave.
“The absence of zincwork cause of significant traces and infiltration“, also points out the Foundation, which finally reports that “all of the stained glass windows is to be restored due to the obsolescence of certain elements and missing parts.
16.7 million euros
The Heritage Foundation also explains having mobilized 16.7 million euros in support of the religious heritage of the villages: 6,6 via national collection, and 10,1 “directed by donors towards rescue operations”. Here are the 13 sites selected in Occitania:
