“The Louvre at home”. For three years, the Louvre and the town of Villeneuve-la-Garenne (Hauts-de-Seine) have organized projects and exhibitions, thanks to a cultural twinning. This partnership, signed between the municipality and the museum, aims to raise awareness of the Louvre collections and to make “each of us want to go to the museum”, explains the municipality to Paris news. To do this, from November 15, 2024, museum works will take over the town hall.
Have your photo taken with your pet
This will not be the first time that the museum has set up shop at City Hall. After the project of portraits of residentswhich included “Portrait of Women”, “Portrait of Men”, the city hosts the exhibition “Animal Portraits”. The first two exhibitions offered residents the opportunity to choose a painted portrait from a selection of reproductions of works collections, before being photographed in costume and hairstyle “in the image of”, while adding contemporary elements specific to each person.
For the municipality, the objective was to exchange with Villenogaren residents around selected works, in order to allow them to “express themselves whatever their culturestheir knowledge and ensure, if this is not already the case, that they can “appropriate” this rich common heritage “. In October, the Louvre had already taken over the town's Qwartz shopping center to exhibit its works.
After the previous exhibitions, it is now the turn of pets and company to be honored, with or without their master, during a photo session which will be based on selected period portraits. During the opening, which will take place in the Roger-Prévot salon at City Hall, everyone will be able to to be photographedwith your pet, upon registration). A presentation of the most original photos will be offered at the end of the exhibition.
