Météo-France is clear: it will snow this Tuesday in the Hautes-Alpes. And in significant quantities.
The forecasts, which are based in particular on the cold drop expected this week, announce snowfall ranging from 5 to 20 centimeters in the Ubaye valley and the Hautes-Alpes.
The flakes, favored by temperatures flirting with 0°C, will be more tenacious from an altitude of 1400 meters. Because in the valley, where the mercury will be slightly higher, it is indeed rain that awaits residents and motorists.
We are still far from the start of winter, because the episode will only last 24 hours. In fact, from Wednesday, temperatures will rise to 6°C at altitude, and the sun will appear again in the department.
It is therefore only a postponement for the white carpet of the Alpine massifs.
When driving on snow-covered roads, reduce your speed, respect safety distances and always give priority to snow removal and salting equipment. In the event of snowfall, the front fog lights can replace or complement the low beam lights.
Furthermore, since 2021, winter chains or tires are compulsory in mountainous areas.
