The city of Saint-Pierre celebrates Dipavali throughout the weekend. Indian village at the Jardins de la Plage, conferences at Kervéguen, Indian culture is in the spotlight. A weekend of festivities which ends this Sunday evening with the traditional parade on the seafront.

Exhibitions, introductions to Indian art, yoga, conferences, since Friday November 8, the city of Saint-Pierre has been beating to the rhythm of Indian culture. On the occasion of Dipavali, many activities are offered to the public.

The Festival of Lights is an important moment for the Tamil community of Island. It is thus to commemorate the return of Rama to Ayodhya and symbolizes the victory of good over evil.

Already, the parade floats are ready and the Indian village has been set up on the Saint-Pierrois seafront.

Get your tank ready for Dipavali!

Dipavali: the Indian village settles in Saint-Pierre

A celebration in which all the people of Reunion take part, all communities combined, who come to share the culture and traditions of the Tamils ​​of Reunion. There are always a large number of people who gather on the Saint-Pierre seafront to watch the parade of floats. This year, we'll meet this Sunday, November 10 at 7 p.m. on Boulevard Hubert Delisle.

The parade closes several days of festivities. In the morning, the public will have been able to enjoy yoga sessions offered from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Belvédère for adults, and at 3 p.m. for children, or attend the conference on Ayurvedic food well-being from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Kerveguen .

All day long, from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., an Indian village is also set up at the Jardins de la Plage. Workshops on floral art, pebble mandalas, henna, Ayurvedic massages and food stalls are offered.

Indian dancer Arushi Mugdal is the undisputed star of this Dipavali in Saint-Pierre. With her musicians, she will perform this Sunday at 8 p.m., and Monday November 11 at 6:30 p.m., on the seafront.

In Saint-André, the big parade in town is planned for Saturday November 16, with the return of the big final show at the Sarda Garriga stadium. On Sunday, November 17, the traditional Holi-Holi will take place at Parc du Colosse. However, the festivities will begin on Tuesday, November 12 with the Indian Mêla present at the Parc du Colosse until Sunday, November 17.
