The end of a month of hardship for TGV users between Paris and Saint-Étienne. Closed since October 17 2024 following the bad weather which affected the east of France, the direct line between the two cities will reopen this Thursday, November 14, indicates SNCF Voyageurs on its X account.
Traffic has resumed since November 4 with a connection to Lyon
The line had been closed since October 17 and the violent floods which affected eastern France. After a few weeks of work, the connection was able to be re-established on November 4, but travelers had to make a connection in Lyon.
A total reopening was planned for Monday, November 11, but this time, it was work to modernize the signaling system on the Paris-Lyon axis which led to a new postponement.
For this first day of reopening, only one train. But the next day, November 14, the line will return to its usual traffic with four round trips per day.
But for how long? As explained by our colleagues fromnews Saint-ÉtienneSNCF executives would be working on the end of the residency of TGV drivers in the capital of the Loire. A few days later, Jean-Pierre Farandou, the CEO of the public company, reassured residents by indicating that there would be no “reduction in services between Saint-Étienne and Paris”.
